Can You Buy a Home After Bankruptcy, Short Sale or Foreclosure?

Can You Buy a Home After Bankruptcy, Short Sale or Foreclosure?

If you are like millions of Americans, at this time, your credit has seen better days but there is good news, with a little time you can not only have stellar credit but once again be a homeowner. If you’ve claimed bankruptcy, lost your home due to foreclosure or sold your home for less than you owe all hope is not lost. While these types of public records hit your credit pretty hard, you can qualify for a mortgage after a waiting period. The chart below will show your homeownership options:

 * When applying for a VA loan you should discuss all of your options with your VA mortgage professional. Also, VA does not participate in short sales, they are considered Compromise Sales. Be sure and talk with Sean Harkin regarding extenuating circumstances (personal hardships which caused the occurrence) as some lenders will approve a shortened waiting period based on your circumstance. Finally, don’t be discouraged, the waiting periods will give you time to manage your finances and get your credit back on track.
